At Foster Fuels our goal is to provide you with excellent customer service and deliver your fuel in a safe and timely manner. However, when customers choose not to be placed on Auto Fill they are responsible for monitoring their tanks and contacting us when they need a refill. Learning how to read your gauge is important and can help you prevent maintenance issues caused by your tank running out of fuel.

Did you know your propane tank gauge is a percentage gauge?  A full tank is actually right around 80%. So for example, if your gauge is pointing at 50%, then you have 60 gallons remaining in your standard 120-gallon tank. Tanks are only filled to 80% to allow space for the propane to expand when the temperature varies.

Another important thing to know is that gauges are not pinpoint accurate. They often have an accuracy of +/- 10%. Because of this, our trained drivers do not fill your tank by the gauge. There is a safety bleeder valve that always lets us know when the tank is safely full. This prevents a potentially dangerous overfill situation.

If you are a Will Call customer, please alert our office when your gauge reads 30% in order to allow sufficient delivery time.
