Will Your Generator Run When You Need it the Most?

If your company relies on power, you likely have an emergency generator at the ready. If the regular power grid goes down, you’ll keep working as soon as your generator kicks in, preventing the loss of countless dollars, and in the case of some industries, even lives. Your emergency generator provides you peace of mind that everything will be okay when the power goes out — if it works.

You’re aware that it’s crucially important that your generator is there and in perfect working order when you need it, so you probably have regular maintenance checks scheduled. But how often do you check your generator fuel? Not just the amount of generator fuel, but the generator fuel quality?

Maintaining Generator Fuel Quality

One of the most overlooked parts of generator maintenance is generator fuel and generator fuel quality. Like many substances, fuel goes bad after a while, and even if your generator is filled with what seems like an adequate amount of fuel, if that fuel has gone bad, your generator may not run. So what can you do to make sure you have enough good fuel and protect your generator fuel quality?

Engaging Quality Fuel Service for Your Generators

The safest approach is to partner with an expert fuel services company like Foster Fuels for your generator fuel service needs. For one thing, this allows you to set up guaranteed fuel delivery for emergency generators. Foster Fuels can pair your fuel delivery with tank monitoring. Tank monitoring is a service that can give you incredible peace of mind when it comes to your generator fuel services.

Tank monitoring involves installing a device that remotely alerts Foster Fuels when your supply is low, so you can take delivery before you run out of fuel. Even if you’ve got your fuel delivery for emergency generators scheduled to arrive before your fuel runs out or goes bad, sudden spikes in usage, leaks or other unanticipated situations may cause you to need fuel sooner than expected.

By setting up a partnership like this, you’ll get more than just regular fuel service. You can sign up for emergency fuel service for generators, so in a situation where fuel is immediately required, you’re covered. You can also get fuel maintenance from experts who can inspect the quality of your current fuel load and even suggest additives to help lengthen the lifespan of your existing fuel.

Putting It All Together: The Right Generator, the Right Fuel, the Right Partner

Your emergency generator is critical to your business. It can save money, save time and save lives. That’s why you want to make sure you have all the parts working together at maximum efficiency: a high-powered, reliable generator, fuel that stays fresh longer and lasts, and fuel experts to make sure you get the most out of your fuel and that it’s there when you need it.

    • Thank you for your interest in propane and in Foster Fuels. There are a couple of answers to your questions we hope can help you. These answers are based on a typical home in Virginia. It is common for a home using propane for whole house heat to have a 500 or 1000 gallon storage tank with 500 being most common. Regarding how much propane you can expect to use, that depends on several factors which include personal temperature preference, age & construction integrity of your home, and the weather. Whole house heat for a 2500 square foot home may use 750-1500 gallons per year depending on these factors. Regarding cost, propane is a commodity, and pricing varies, so it is not possible to give a firm cost. However, most of the time, propane is a more cost effective and more comfortable alternative to electricity. Our customers overwhelming prefer propane to electricity for cooking, hot water, heating, and clothes drying.
