Dog Days of Summer

Foster Fuels’ 2nd Annual Dog Days of Summer contest is back!

…and your pup could be featured on a Foster Fuels billboard.

Dog Days of Summer is Foster Fuels’ four-week celebration of the local dogs that make summer better, and in 2026, it’s better than ever. Each week, dog owners across Central Virginia and the Foster Fuels service area can enter for a chance to see their pup featured on Foster Fuels social media and billboards around Lynchburg!

Entering is simple: find the weekly Dog Days of Summer post on the Foster Fuels Facebook page, then comment with a photo of your dog, your dog’s name, and the city or town where your dog lives.

How the Contest Works

  1. Find the weekly post. A new Dog Days of Summer round begins on the Foster Fuels Facebook page each Monday. (Double-check the date of the post you comment on! We’d hate to see your adorable pup’s picture somewhere it can’t get votes.)
  2. Share your dog. Comment on that week’s post with a summer-ready photo, your dog’s name, and the city or town where your dog lives.
  3. Rally the votes. Invite friends and family to like or react to your dog’s photo in the comments. The eligible photo with the most reactions wins the week.
  4. Watch for the winner. Each weekly winner will be featured on Foster Fuels social media and billboards, then advance to the final Summer’s Top Dog vote.

Weekly Voting Rounds

  • Week 1: July 13–17
  • Week 2: July 20–24
  • Week 3: July 27–31

The Final Round

On August 3, the three weekly winners will face off in one final Facebook vote. The winning pup will be crowned Summer’s Top Dog on August 10.

What the Winners Receive

Every weekly winner will earn:

  • A feature on a Foster Fuels billboard
  • A feature on Foster Fuels social media
  • A place in the final Summer’s Top Dog vote

Summer’s Top Dog will receive the campaign’s final billboard feature and a Foster Fuels doggie basket containing a $20 PetSmart gift card, dog toys, dog treats, and a dog bowl.

Dogs, Community, and a Good Cause

Dog Days of Summer is an organic Foster Fuels campaign created to celebrate our community, generate some tail-wagging fun, and give local dogs their moment in the spotlight.

At the conclusion of the campaign, the Foster Fuels Foundation will make a donation to BARCC in support of its work serving animals in Campbell County.

How to Enter

  • Find the active weekly Dog Days of Summer contest post on the Foster Fuels Facebook page.
  • Comment directly on that post with a photo of your dog.
  • Include your dog’s name and current city or town of residence in the comment.
  • Submit no more than one entry per dog during each weekly round.

Comments or photos posted elsewhere do not count as official entries.

Photo Guidelines

We encourage fun, high-quality photos showing how your dog is spending—or surviving—the Dog Days of Summer. Swimming, playing outside, relaxing in the shade, and summer adventures are all welcome.

Submitted photos must be suitable for public display. Entries may not include:

  • People
  • AI-generated or digitally created dogs
  • Inappropriate content
  • Images the entrant does not own or have permission to use

Voting and Weekly Winners

Voting takes place through likes and reactions on eligible photo comments under the active weekly Facebook post. Unless otherwise stated in the post, weekly voting ends on Friday. The eligible dog photo with the most reactions at the close of voting will be declared that week’s winner. Each week, the winner will be displayed on Foster Fuels billboards around the region.

After three weekly winners have been selected, those dogs will compete in a final Facebook vote for the title of Summer’s Top Dog.

Instagram Participation

Participants are welcome to share their dog’s photo to an Instagram post or Story and tag Foster Fuels for a chance to be reposted. Instagram Story posts do not count as official contest entries; all official entries must be submitted through the active weekly Facebook post.

Media Release and Permissions

By entering, participants confirm that they own the submitted photo or have permission to use it. Participants grant Foster Fuels permission to use submitted photos, dog names, cities or towns of residence, and related entry content in social media, website content, billboards, email campaigns, digital advertising, print advertising, and other promotional materials.

The (not so) Fine Print

No purchase necessary. Foster Fuels reserves the right to limit, remove, disqualify, or reject entries deemed inappropriate, fraudulent, ineligible, or inconsistent with the spirit of the contest.

Submission does not guarantee selection, publication, billboard placement, or promotional use. Foster Fuels is not responsible for inaccuracies, technical issues, platform outages, unavailable content, user-generated content, or social media platform irregularities.
