Foster Fuels Responds Ahead of Hurricane Ian’s Impact
BROOKNEAL, Va. September 27, 2022 – Foster Fuels’ Mission Critical division dispatches close to 100 emergency fuel trucks ahead of Hurricane Ian’s impact on Florida. The team is making its way to secure locations north of the projected impact area and will respond after Ian makes landfall. Demand is expected to increase after the scale of the hurricane’s impact is better understood.
Foster’s team has been operating around the clock, sending trucks throughout the weekend, with the bulk of their fleet leaving Tuesday, September 27. The trucks carry loads of diesel, gasoline, propane, water, DEF, and other necessary provisions. Its mission is to fuel FEMA’s relief efforts and other critical infrastructures like hospitals, data centers, and utility companies.
The impact area forecasted will be heavily affected by storm surges, and it is anticipated that power outages and flooding will be substantial.
“We have a highly experienced team that is up for the challenge,” said Will Rohrig, Senior Vice President of Foster Fuels’ Mission Critical. “However, we always look for qualified CDL and hazmat-trained drivers to add to our team.”
Foster’s Mission Critical team has responded to catastrophic events for almost two decades. Notable, wide-scale activations include Superstorm Sandy, the Haiti Earthquake, and, most recently, Hurricane Ida in 2021.
In 2019, Foster Mission Critical responded to relief efforts in Florida after Hurricane Dorian hit. Its path of destruction stretched across multiple states, including North Carolina and Georgia, causing almost four billion dollars in damages.
“Safety is our top priority,” Rohrig spoke to the team during their daily huddle. “Take care of our drivers; Our goal is to complete a successful mission and bring everyone home safe.”
