News and Events: Foster Fuels named “Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation”

Lynchburg, Va., November 13, 2019 –

Foster Fuels was named as an “Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation” by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Central Virginia Chapter. The family-owned company was recognized for its record of charitable giving throughout communities in central Virginia.

Since 1921, Foster Fuels has been serving its community and partnering with local and global organizations to help better the community. We at Foster Fuels believe that when our community succeeds, we succeed.

Our team is proud to support and annually donate to local children’s sports organizations, participate in local events, and raise awareness for several organizations throughout our community. Some of our charitable activities include:

    • Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals: The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals are dedicated to saving the lives of children through the help of donations. The family-owned-and-operated company, Foster Fuels, is passionate about the lives of these children and their families and readily donates annually to support research and training, to purchase equipment, and to provide for the uncompensated care of children battling cancer and traumatic injury throughout our community. This camp provides a free “out-of-environment” experience, focused on changing their lives. To learn more information about the organization or to make a donation, visit www.campnewjoy.org.
  • Thomas Road Outpost: In 2014, CEO Watt R. Foster Jr. donated 500 acres to Thomas Road Baptist Church to build a youth camp at the Peaks of Otter in the Blue Ridge Mountains. With over 50 years of camp involvement, Thomas Road Baptist Church’s mission for the camp is to reach at-risk youth from Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland, and the DC area. Designed with numerous outdoor activities, the Thomas Road Outpost (TRO) opened in 2016 and provides a safe and ministry-led environment where youth can enjoy mountain biking, ziplining, fishing, archery, building healthy relations, and more. Learn more about Thomas Road Outpost.
  • Aid the Community: In times of need in the community, Foster Fuels wants to help however possible, and so do others around us. By offering our locations as supply drop-off points or by donating a percentage of our profits to aid relief efforts, we hope to continue helping our community stay strong and rebuild. In 2019, Foster Fuels hosted it’s first “Spread the Warmth” Coat Drive. Following the communities’ overwhelming response, the Foster Fuels team as able to donate over 400 coats to local schools and charities. Read about “Spread the Warmth”.
